Questions & Comments

Public domain is basically a title which no longer held under copyright. Since the title is not owned by one company etc, there are a ton of sub-standard copies all over the market (because the releasing group can put them out without paying anything for the title or to it's creators.)
5, 10, 20, and 50 movie packs... multiple movies on a single DVD... or movies which have a number of different releases which aren't coordinated or done through a singular releasing group are all good indicators that the film is likely public domain.
You know how this time of the year you see Night of the Living Dead, Last Man on Earth, House on Haunted Hill, The Atomic Brain, Carnival of Souls, etc. The reason they pop up in Halloween stores, drug stores, grocery stores, etc is because they are some examples of public domain titles.
Where as they are legal to sell... they are readily available for dirt cheap and free so they have a different value then a 'controlled' title.
Uhm. I'm not sure? All of my movies were bought from AAFES (Army & Air Force Exchange Service... a store for military/dependants). None of them have more than one movie? Examples but not limited to are: The Fog, The Happening, Cars, Bee Movie, Dennis the Menace, Dear John, Mall Cop, etc. Are those public domains?
Nope. I'm sure you have a few PD titles in the mix (because everyone does) but none of those films you listed are PD. Wikipedia keeps a somewhat incomplete list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_in_the_public_domain_in_the_United_States Thanks for the clarification.
