The listing, WWII Japanese Issued 100 Pesos Bill has ended.

I tried to research this bill online. All I could find is that it was issued by Japanese fores during WWII while occupying the Phillipine .Islands. These bills were issued between 1944 - 1945. That's all I know about this bill. If anyone has information on this as a collectible please write it in the message boards below. Please feel free tp see my other auctions. Thank you. Couldn't find much but I did find this "During World War II in the Philippines, the occupying Japanese government issued fiat currency in several denominations; this is known as the Japanese government-issued Philippine fiat peso. A ten peso is worth about 25 cents as there were many printed." This would mean a 100 peso is worth about $2.50, if my math is correct ;)

great bill have the whole set and it is during ww2 the Japanese government issued several different bills due to they thought they would take over the Philippines and then there is another bill that was issued by rebellions and if you were caught using it by the Japanese you were killed.great auctuon good luck....

During World War II in the Philippines, the occupying Japanese government issued fiat currency in several denominations; this is known as the Japanese government-issued Philippine fiat peso. The Japanese-sponsored Second Philippine Republic under Jose P. Laurel outlawed possession of guerrilla currency, and declared a monopoly on the issuance of money, so that anyone found to possess guerrilla notes could be arrested.

Some Filipinos called the fiat peso "Mickey Mouse money". Many survivors of the war[who?] tell stories of going to the market laden with suitcases or "bayong" (native bags made of woven coconut or buri leaf strips) overflowing with the Japanese-issued bills. According to one witness, 75 "Mickey Mouse" pesos, or about 35 U.S. dollars at that time, could buy one duck egg.[1] In 1944, a box of matches cost more than 100 Mickey Mouse pesos.[2]

These bills were often used by American psychological warfare personnel as propaganda leaflets. Japanese occupation banknotes were overprinted with the words "The Co-prosperity Sphere: What is it worth?", in an attempt to discredit the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere, and dropped from Allied aircraft over the occupied territories
