Nyssa Moss Agate is found in the mysterious region known as "The Owyhees" which encompasses part of SE Oregon and SW Idaho just South of Nyssa, Oregon. This variety is called "moss" agate because of the inclusions (chlorite, clays, various oxides/hydroxides, etc.) in transparent/translucent chalcedony. The final effect makes the stone resemble "moss". Depending on the inclusions the moss can show different colors, with green/brown and red as the most common. Agates with inclusions are some of the rarest and most beautiful agates in the world. Agates in many different varieties are distributed worldwide but localities of agate beds of major significance only number less than a hundred.

This beautiful stone is ready for you to wire wrap it, or attach a bail to it and create a stunning pendant! Both sides of this piece are pictured. Apx. measurements are 25mm in length and 6mm at it's widest point.

Moss Agate is thought to enhance a love of nature, as well as cleanse the soul and restore wit.
