Acer laptop, brand new but something happened and it overheated and now it won't power-up. I was told it has the blue screen of death so maybe for parts.

It powers up and a blue screen comes up with a bunch of letters and then shuts back down, a friend did tell me to try a code and select run in safe mode and I can get a screen then but no Icons of any type.
