This Dutch introduction offers rich, watercolor shades hard to find elsewhere in the garden. Cupped and rounded, the 3-inch blooms look like silk, and arise very heavily on plants 9 to 18 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Cut all you like -- these blooms were made for displaying!

Adaptable to many climates, all that 'Falling in Love' really needs is full sun and well-drained soil, even if it's on the dry side. A fine choice for containers as well as the garden, it is untroubled by most pests and diseases, and puts up with rough weather beautifully. The blooms begin in midsummer and continue into fall in most areas.

You are partially correct - they can be grown and the seeds given away as long as people do not know they are "Opium" poppies-call them Dutch Poppy cultivar and you won't run into legal problems. Once you star calling them "Opium" poppies, people know that they can make opium, heroine and other illegal drugs.

Why can't you just take the O word out of the ad? We like the flowers but you are soliciting buyers who want them for drugs instead of flowers. The flowers are very pretty and should not have this evil assocdiatyion. My mom grew them when I was a little girl and they are great for topping baked goods. You see thejm in stores all the time on rolls and bread. Just don't sell them to criminals.

Geez, people! Get over the *Opium* connotations already!

ANY variety of Poppy seeds can be made into an opiate!! But you would probably need a good 20 lbs of (very smail) seeds to make about 1 Tblspn of opiate...

another FYI--- You can eat 1 poppy seed muffin, and fail a drug urine test 2 hrs later!! So it doesnt matter What you call it-- All poppy seeds are in the opiate family. . . .
