It is called live oak because they keep there leaves all year long! As one dies another grows right away to take its place.They are easy to groom as they grow. Keep them low to the ground for kids or make them tall and then branch out for shade.
This magnificent, broadleaf evergreen tree will be a picturesque addition to your landscape.
They grow rapidly when young and may live to be centuries old. This particular species of Oak grow on the coastal shores of California along with their over-sized big buddies the giant redwoods.
Adapts to almost any soil. Live Oaks can be used as street trees. Tolerant of salt spray. Grows 40'-80', with an 80' spread. (Zones 7-10)
